BBAU’s 11th Convocation to be Held on August 29; Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to Grace the Ceremony as Chief Guest

Lucknow: The 11th Convocation Ceremony of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU), Lucknow, will be held on 29 August 2026 on the university campus. On this prestigious occasion, the Hon’ble Defence Minister of India, Shri Rajnath Singh, will attend the ceremony as the Chief Guest and confer degrees and gold medals upon the students. The convocation will be a historic and proud occasion for the University, celebrating academic excellence, achievement, and success.
The convocation is being organized for students who graduated in the years 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026. Approximately 8,300 students from undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. programmes across these four academic years are eligible to receive their degrees. So far, nearly 4,100 students have registered to attend the ceremony. The University’s online registration portal will remain open until 16 August for students wishing to participate in the convocation. The number of participants is expected to increase as more students complete their registration before the deadline.
During the ceremony, around 390 research scholars will be awarded Ph.D. degrees, while nearly 220 students will receive degrees under the Multiple Exit Scheme. In addition, approximately 450 meritorious students will be honoured with Gold Medals, and four students will receive the prestigious R.D. Sonkar Award. These honours recognize the students’ hard work, discipline, and dedication and will serve as an inspiration for others.
Speaking about the convocation, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raj Kumar Mittal said that a convocation is one of the most significant and memorable milestones in a student’s academic journey. It is not only an occasion to receive a degree but also a moment to reaffirm one’s commitment to serving society and the nation. He expressed confidence that BBAU graduates would contribute significantly to the vision of Viksit Bharat through knowledge, innovation, ethical values, and social responsibility. He further stated that the University’s objective is not only to provide quality education but also to nurture competent, compassionate, and socially responsible citizens capable of making meaningful contributions at the global level and to the nation’s development. Prof. Mittal also extended his advance congratulations to all degree and medal recipients, stating that their achievements are the result of the collective efforts of their parents, teachers, and the entire University community.
Controller of Examinations Prof. Vikram Singh Yadav informed that all necessary preparations for the successful conduct of the convocation are underway. Various committees have been constituted to ensure the smooth and dignified organization of the event. Comprehensive arrangements are being made for security, guest hospitality, student registration, stage management, transportation, and other logistical aspects to ensure the successful execution of the ceremony.
