Capacity Building Programme on Vocational Education Begins at BBAU; Teachers Being Trained for Effective Implementation of Vocational Education at the Middle Stage in Alignment with NCF-SE 2023

A five-day “Capacity Building Programme for Teachers for the Implementation of Vocational Education at the Middle Stage in Alignment with the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023”, under PAC 21.14, was inaugurated on September 7 at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU), Lucknow. The programme is being jointly organized by BBAU and the Pandit Sundarlal Sharma Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE), National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), Ministry of Education, Government of India, and will be held from September 7 to 11, 2026. The inaugural programme was graced by Shri Vishnu Kant Pandey, Additional State Project Director, Samagra Shiksha, as the Chief Guest. Apart from this, Shri Yogesh Kumar, Deputy General Manager, HCL Foundation, Prof. Naveen Kumar Arora, Chairperson, Institution’s Innovation Council, BBAU, Prof. Deepak Paliwal, Joint Director, PSSCIVE, NCERT, Programme Coordinator Prof. Shailja Dixit and Dr. Arpit Shailesh were also present on the dais. The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, Saraswati Vandana, the University anthem, and the national song ‘Vande Mataram’. Around 100 teachers and skill trainers from all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh are participating in the programme. The objective of the programme is to strengthen the capacities of teachers for the effective implementation of vocational and skill education at the middle stage and to provide students with opportunities for experiential, skill-based, and work-oriented learning.
Chief Guest Shri Vishnu Kant Pandey highlighted the importance of strengthening vocational education and equipping students with relevant and useful skills in accordance with NCF-SE 2023. Special Guest Shri Yogesh Kumar emphasized the need for effective collaboration among various stakeholders to promote skill-based education. Prof. Naveen Kumar Arora underlined the importance of effective capacity building of teachers for the successful implementation of vocational education.
Prof. Deepak Paliwal, Joint Director, PSSCIVE, NCERT, emphasized the crucial role of teachers in translating the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and NCF-SE 2023 into meaningful and experiential learning practices.
Prof. Shailja Dixit, Programme Coordinator, presented the programme framework and informed the participants that special emphasis would be placed on practical and experiential learning during the training. She particularly highlighted initiatives such as Skill-Based Bagless Days, Kaushal Bodh, and the My Career Advisor App for strengthening teachers’ capacities and developing practical skills among students, along with the ability to make informed career choices.
Prof. Pankaj Mehta, Professor, PSSCIVE, welcomed all the participants and highlighted the relevance and growing importance of skill and vocational education in the present context.
The programme aims to promote experiential, skill-based, and work-oriented learning among students in alignment with NCF-SE 2023 and to equip teachers with the requisite knowledge and skills for its effective implementation.
The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Arpit Shailesh, Coordinator, BBAU. This was followed by the national song and the national anthem.
Faculty members from various educational institutions, Deans and Heads of Departments from different faculties of BBAU, as well as non-teaching officers of the University, were present throughout the programme.
