BBAU Organizes Online Training Programme on Effective Use of E-Library through ‘Knimbus Discovery Tool’

Lucknow: Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University organized an online training programme on 2 September through the Gautam Buddha Central Library on the topic “How to Use BBAU e-Library via Knimbus Discovery Tool” with the objective of familiarizing the students, research scholars and faculty members of the University with the effective use of digital and electronic academic resources. The programme was organized under the guidance of the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Raj Kumar Mittal. Dr. Sunil Goria, Librarian, Central Library, and Dr. O.P. Saini, Assistant Librarian, were present during the programme. Ms. Kanishka Jindal, Support Team Manager, Knimbus, was the keynote speaker for the training programme.

During the training, Ms. Kanishka Jindal explained that the Knimbus Discovery Tool is a unified search platform through which electronic resources subscribed to by the University, along with open-access resources, can be easily searched and accessed through a single platform. Through this platform, students, research scholars and faculty members can conveniently access various research journals, e-books, databases, theses and other academic and research-related resources. She further explained that access to digital library resources is not restricted to the University campus and that, through remote access, academic materials can also be accessed using mobile phones and other devices.

This provides research scholars and faculty members with the convenience of searching for and accessing the material required for their research work from anywhere. During the training, participants were provided with information on the process of searching for different types of academic resources through a single search interface, accessing relevant research material, effectively utilizing available databases and e-resources, and adopting methods to make research work more systematic and productive. The participants were also made aware that the effective utilization of appropriate digital resources can play an important role in improving the quality of research while saving time. In addition, the participants were given practical guidance on the use of Knimbus.

An interactive question-and-answer session was also conducted during the training programme. Students, research scholars and faculty members raised various questions related to the e-library, searching digital resources, utilization of databases, remote access and accessing research materials. The questions were addressed in detail by the keynote speaker.

The training programme organized by the Gautam Buddha Central Library aimed to empower the University community to make maximum and effective use of the available e-resources and to further strengthen research and academic activities through digital platforms. The programme provided participants with an understanding of how, with the assistance of the Knimbus Discovery Tool, academic and research materials can be accessed more easily and conveniently through an integrated platform, instead of conducting separate searches across different sources.

Faculty members, research scholars and students from various departments of the University participated in the programme through the online mode.
