National Seminar on “Samaveshi Vikas, Vidhik, Sanvedhanik, Samajik or Arthik Aayam: Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar ki Drishti Me” held at BBAU; Scholars expressed their views
Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University is organizing a four-day celebration from April 11 to 14 on the occasion of ‘Ambedkar Jayanti’ and ‘University Foundation Day,’ which includes various academic and cultural programs, seminars, and competitions. On the second day, April 12, a one-day national seminar was organized on the theme “Samaveshi Vikas, Vidhik, Sanvedhanik, Samajik or Arthik Aayam: Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar ki Drishti Me”. The program was chaired by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Raj Kumar Mittal. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Hon’ble Prof. Satish Chandra Dwivedi, Former Minister of State (Independent Charge), Basic Education, Government of Uttar Pradesh. Prof. Chandrashekhar, former Vice-Chancellor of Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh State University, Aligarh and Prof. S.K. Chahal, In-charge of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Chair, Kurukshetra University, Haryana, Guests of Honour, Prof. Raj Sharan Shahi, Head and Dean of the Department of Education, BBAU and Prof. Sudarshan Verma, Head of the Department of Law, BBAU were present on the dais. The program commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and floral tribute to Babasaheb’s portrait. After the university anthem, guests were welcomed with saplings and bouquets. At the beginning, Prof. Raj Sharan Shahi delivered the welcome address and outlined the objectives of the seminar. The event was conducted by Dr. Vivek Nath Tripathi.

In his address, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raj Kumar Mittal emphasized that inclusive development is essential to realize the vision of a developed India and that it must be guided by the ideals of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. He highlighted that India, being the world’s largest democracy, should focus not only on economic growth but also on building a society based on equality, harmony, liberty, and environmental sensitivity. He also stressed that active participation of every citizen strengthens democracy and contributes to national progress. He further noted Babasaheb’s significant contributions toward women’s empowerment and the protection of labor rights, which continue to inspire society today.
Chief Guest Prof. Satish Chandra Dwivedi,Former Minister of State (Independent Charge), Basic Education, Government of Uttar Pradesh elaborated on the dimensions of sustainable development, stating that it rests on three key pillars: continuity in growth and economic stability, rational and just development ensuring equality, and inclusive development that involves all sections of society. He emphasized that true progress is possible only when the benefits of development are equitably distributed, citizens remain aware and proactive, and economic planning is effectively implemented. He added that to make India a developed nation, society must follow the ideals of Babasaheb, Deendayal, and other great thinkers.

Prof. Chandrashekhar, former Vice-Chancellor, former of Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh State University, Aligarh, stated that Babasaheb’s personality cannot be confined to a single framework, as he was a multidimensional thinker of the 20th century. Highlighting his struggles against social discrimination and economic hardships, he emphasized how education became his greatest strength. He also mentioned Babasaheb’s significant works such as “Who Were the Shudras?”, “States and Minorities,” “Mooknayak,” and “Riddles in Hinduism,” which continue to guide society.
Prof. S.K. Chahal,In-charge of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Chair, Kurukshetra University, Haryana, stressed that real progress is possible only through equal opportunities and empowerment of weaker sections. He emphasized linking inclusiveness with social justice to strengthen constitutional values. He described Dr. Ambedkar and social justice as synonymous, noting his role in establishing the foundation of social democracy and highlighting concepts like economic democracy and welfare state.


Prof. Raj Sharan Shahi, Head and Dean of the Department of Education stated that Dr. Ambedkar’s philosophy reflects a deep commitment to social upliftment. He described Ambedkar’s journey from “Mooknayak” to “Loknayak” as highly inspirational and emphasized that equality, liberty, and fraternity are the core values of the Constitution. He highlighted education as the most effective tool for bringing real social change.
Prof. Sudarshan Verma, Head of the Department of Law emphasized that Dr. Ambedkar worked tirelessly for political strength, social equality, and upliftment of marginalized communities and women. She highlighted his famous slogan, “Educate, Organize, Agitate,” and discussed the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam 2023 as a significant step toward women’s empowerment. She also underlined the importance of education in breaking the chains of oppression and spreading awareness of rights.
At the end of the program, guests were honored with mementos and traditional shawls. Prof. Harishankar Singh delivered the vote of thanks.

On this occasion, various competitions were organized for participants, including a poster-making competition on “Contribution of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in Nation Building,” as well as debate, quiz, and rangoli competitions on the theme of “Samaveshi Vikas, Vidhik, Sanvedhanik, Samajik or Arthik Aayam: Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar ki Drishti Me” . An exhibition was also organised, showcasing rural industries, handicrafts, traditional art, and various folk products in a highly lively, attractive, and commendable manner.
Dean of various Schools, department heads, teachers, non-teaching staff, research scholars, and students from various faculties were present during the event.
