BBAU Media Centre Achieves a New Milestone: Online Course on Hindi Literature Now Available on SWAYAM
Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU), Lucknow, has achieved another significant milestone in the field of digital education. The SWAYAM online course titled “History of Hindi Literature (Modern Period)”, developed through the joint efforts of the Department of Hindi and the Electronic Multimedia Research Centre (Media Centre), Lucknow, is now available for learners on the Government of India’s prestigious SWAYAM platform. This important achievement has been accomplished under the guidance of the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Raj Kumar Mittal, and the supervision of Prof. Gopal Singh, Director (In-charge), Media Centre, and Prof. Rampal Gangwar, Head of the Department of Hindi. Students, researchers, teachers, and all those interested in Hindi literature from India and abroad can now enroll in this online course. The course offers comprehensive and systematic study material on the history of modern Hindi literature, major literary figures, literary movements, trends, and various literary genres.
On this occasion, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raj Kumar Mittal extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the entire team involved in the development of the course. He stated that this achievement reflects the University’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and its growing contribution to digital education. He emphasized that the courses developed on the SWAYAM platform will play a vital role in providing wider access to quality education and strengthening the concept of “learning anytime, anywhere.” The Vice-Chancellor appreciated the efforts of the Media Centre and reiterated that BBAU remains committed to developing digital learning resources, promoting technology-enabled education, and realizing the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. He also commended the dedication and hard work of all faculty members, subject experts, technical professionals, and the Media Centre team who contributed to the course development. Furthermore, he encouraged students, researchers, and teachers to take maximum advantage of SWAYAM courses and engage with this powerful medium of digital learning.

It is noteworthy that the course proposal had earlier received approval from the Consortium for Educational Communication (CEC), New Delhi. Subsequently, the EMMRC (Media Centre), Lucknow, successfully carried out the development of the course, including video lecture recording, editing, e-content creation, and technical coordination.
Students, researchers, teachers, and other learners interested in Hindi literature from across the globe can now enroll in the course through the SWAYAM portal. The course provides extensive learning material on the development of modern Hindi literature, major literary personalities, literary movements, and various literary genres.
This initiative is an important step toward expanding access to quality higher education through digital platforms in line with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The course includes expert-designed video lectures, study materials, quizzes, and assessment tools, enabling learners to study in a flexible and effective manner.
