BBAU and Uttar Pradesh State AIDS Control Society to Organise ‘Red Run Uttar Pradesh-2026’ on October 7; Around 600 Participants to Take Part

Lucknow: Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU), Lucknow, in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh State AIDS Control Society (UPSACS), is organising the ‘Red Run Uttar Pradesh-2026’ Marathon on October 7, 2026. The preparations for the event to be held at BBAU are being carried out under the guidance and patronage of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raj Kumar Mittal.
Providing information about the event, Programme Coordinator Prof. Pawan Kumar Chaurasia said that the marathon will be organised on the service lane of Shaheed Path. The objective of the event is to raise awareness among youth about HIV/AIDS while promoting awareness about healthy lifestyle, fitness and social responsibility. Around 100 participants from across the state will participate in the 10-kilometre race, while approximately 500 participants in the age group of 17 to 25 years from BBAU and other universities will take part in the event.
Registration and other necessary activities related to the programme will be conducted on the BBAU campus. Participants will assemble at the ground of the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences at 4:30 AM on October 7. Registration for the participants will be free of cost, and all registered participants will also be provided kits free of charge. A total prize money of ₹1.40 lakh will be awarded to the winners in different categories.


As per the scheduled programme, participants will arrive and assemble at the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences ground at 4:30 AM. This will be followed by the registration process and distribution of T-shirts and chest numbers. At 5:00 AM, a Zumba session and Rock Band performance will be organised for the participants. At 5:15 AM, the marathon participants will be prepared for the race and provided with necessary instructions, warm-up and hydration guidance. The marathon line-up will take place at 5:30 AM, followed by the flag-off at 6:00 AM.
Monitoring and hydration points will be arranged along the route for the participants. At around 7:00 AM, after the participants reach the finishing point, water and snacks will be provided to them.
Thereafter, the Chief Guest and other distinguished guests will be welcomed and addressed. Mementoes and certificates of appreciation will be presented to representatives of the organising committee, media, volunteers and sponsors. A prize distribution ceremony will also be held, during which the winners in the 10-kilometre (men and women) and 5-kilometre (men and women) categories will be announced and awarded medals and certificates.
BBAU and UPSACS have appealed to the youth to participate in large numbers and become a part of this awareness and fitness campaign.
