Preparations for International Day of Yoga Reach Final Stage at BBAU, Campaign Being Celebrated as a “Yoga Mahotsav”

Lucknow: Preparations for the 12th International Day of Yoga, to be celebrated on 21 June 2026 at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU), Lucknow, are being carried out with great enthusiasm and on a large scale. Under the patronage and guidance of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Raj Kumar Mittal, the Department of Yoga and the Yoga Wellness Centre have been organizing various yoga-related programs, workshops, awareness campaigns, and practice sessions over the past month. The university community is celebrating this entire initiative as a “Yoga Mahotsav” (Yoga Festival).

As part of the International Day of Yoga celebrations, daily yoga sessions are being conducted in accordance with the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP), which includes the regular practice of various yoga postures, pranayama, and meditation. Faculty members, staff, students, and a large number of yoga practitioners are enthusiastically participating in these sessions.

Dr. Deepeshwar Singh, Head of the Department of Yoga, stated that extensive preparations have been made to celebrate this year’s International Day of Yoga in a special and grand manner. He informed that the main event will be held on 21 June 2026 at 6:00 a.m. at the Birsa Munda Auditorium on the university campus. He also appealed to the university community and the general public to participate in large numbers, emphasizing that yoga is not merely a form of physical exercise but a scientific way of leading a healthy, balanced, and positive life.
Dr. Narendra Singh, Assistant Professor in the Department of Yoga, stated that participants will collectively practice various yoga postures, pranayama, and meditation techniques as part of the Yoga Day celebrations. He added that the growing awareness of yoga in society is a highly positive sign and that the university aims to contribute actively to the building of a Healthy India by connecting more and more people with yoga.
Dr. Sagar Saini, Yoga Instructor at the Yoga Wellness Centre, remarked that yoga is an effective means of maintaining physical and mental well-being in today’s busy and stressful lifestyle. He urged all citizens to participate in the International Day of Yoga programme and make yoga an integral part of their daily lives.
The university administration has appealed to all students, faculty members, staff, and the general public to attend the programme in large numbers and contribute to the successful celebration of the International Day of Yoga, while promoting a healthier and more prosperous society through the practice of yoga.
