Valedictory Ceremony of Two-Day Navbharat Lokmanthan 2.0 Parliamentary Debate Competition organised at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University
The two-day Navbharat Lokmanthan 2.0 Parliamentary Debate Competition on the theme “Democracy, Politics and Transparency”, organized by the Department of Law at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, concluded on May 6. The valedictory session was presided over by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Raj Kumar Mittal. Apart from this, Head of the Department of Law, Prof. Sudarshan Verma and Dr. Anees Ahmad were also present on the dais. More than 60 participants from various faculties of the university actively took part in the competition. The program commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and floral tribute to Babasaheb’s portrait. The organizing committee also presented a sapling to the Vice-Chancellor as a token of gratitude. Prof. Sudarshan Verma welcomed the attendees and briefed them about the objectives and structure of the program.
In his address, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raj Kumar Mittal congratulated the organizing committee for successfully conducting such a meaningful and impactful event. He stated that law is not merely a collection of rules but a powerful medium that provides direction and vision to society. Referring to the Directive Principles of State Policy, Fundamental Rights, and Fundamental Duties enshrined in the Constitution, he emphasized that these guide citizens about their responsibilities toward society and how they can contribute to its development. He highlighted that such academic events play a vital role in the intellectual and moral development of students. Prof. Mittal further remarked that today the entire world looks toward India with hope and confidence, as it is emerging as a strong democratic nation on the global stage. Emphasizing the role of youth, he said that India, being a youth-driven nation, requires active participation of young people to ensure overall societal growth. He stressed that achieving the vision of Developed India 2047 requires excellence across social, economic, environmental, international, and peace-related domains. He encouraged students to contribute actively to nation-building with innovation, responsibility, and a positive outlook.
During the session, Prof. Sudarshan Verma noted that such programs provide an effective platform for students to express their views with confidence and refine their talents. She added that these initiatives not only support personality development but also prepare students to face future challenges. She congratulated the organizing committee for the successful execution of the event and motivated all participants to strive for continuous excellence.
Throughout the competition, multiple sessions were conducted where participants presented their ideas, research, and arguments, which were evaluated by expert judges. Kartikeya Shukla was awarded the title of Best Speaker. Rajpal, Shreyanshi Singh, and Vinayak Nath received Special Mention awards. Aviral Dwivedi received the High Commendation award, while Vishal Pal was honored with the Special Recognition award.
Dr. Sufia Ahmad, Dr. Mujiburrahman, Dr. Pradeep Kumar, Dr. Brajesh Yadav, Dr. Khushnuma Bano, along with other faculty members, research scholars, participants, and students, were present during the program.
