Inauguration of the Two-Day Navbharat Lokmanthan 2.0 Parliamentary Debate Competition at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University

A two-day Navbharat Lokmanthan 2.0 Parliamentary Debate Competition on the theme “Democracy, Politics and Transparency” was inaugurated on May 5 at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University by the Department of Law. The competition is being organized under the patronage of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raj Kumar Mittal and the guidance of the Head of the Department of Law, Prof. Sudarshan Verma. The event was graced by the presence of the Dean of the School of Legal Studies, Prof. Sanjeev Kumar Chadha. More than 60 participants from various faculties of the university actively took part in the competition.
Prof. Sudarshan Verma encouraged the participants to actively engage in intellectual and expression-oriented platforms such as debate competitions. She emphasized that such events not only strengthen students’ confidence but also enhance their logical reasoning, analytical skills, and the ability to present ideas effectively. She further added that these platforms provide students with opportunities for deep thinking, clear articulation of viewpoints, and overall personality development through healthy competition.
In his address, Dean Prof. Sanjeev Kumar Chadha stated that the youth are the future of the nation, who will go on to become great leaders, educators, and responsible citizens in various fields. He stressed that understanding students’ perspectives, guiding them appropriately, and channeling their thinking in a positive direction is the moral responsibility of educators, enabling them to contribute significantly to building a strong and aware society.
During the competition, multiple sessions were conducted where participants presented their ideas, research, and arguments, which were evaluated by a panel of experts.
The final round of the competition will be held on May 6, and winners will be felicitated during the valedictory session.
Dr. Anees Ahmad, Dr. Sufia Ahmad, Dr. Mujiburrahman, along with other faculty members, research scholars, participants, and students, were also present during the program.
