Program Organized under Poshan Pakhwada at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University

A program was organized on April 22 at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University under the Poshan Pakhwada (8th edition) by the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit. Prof. Sunita Mishra from the Department of Food and Nutrition was present as the keynote speaker. Additionally, Dr. Taruna, Programme Officer of the NSS unit, was also present. At the outset, Dr. Taruna welcomed all the attendees and acquainted them with the objectives and outline of the program.
In her address, Prof. Sunita Mishra elaborated on the role of nutraceuticals and functional foods, explaining that these are food products which not only provide nutrition but also possess medicinal properties that help in promoting health as well as preventing and treating diseases. She highlighted that their importance is continuously increasing in modern lifestyles, as they help fulfill essential nutrient requirements and protect the body from various illnesses. She also provided important information about nutrients, herbal supplements, and the therapeutic applications and appropriate dosage of major nutrients. Furthermore, she emphasized the significance of a balanced and healthy diet, stating that proper nutrition is the foundation of good health. She also discussed the importance of glucose, sucrose, fructose, coenzymes, and various herbal elements, explaining that all these play a vital role in maintaining energy, metabolic processes, and overall health.
During the program, teachers, non-teaching staff, research scholars, NSS volunteers, and other students were present.
