BBAU Observes Birth Anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri with a Message of Cleanliness and Environmental Conservation
Lucknow: Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU), Lucknow, organised various programmes on 2 October to commemorate the birth anniversaries of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri. The programme was presided over by the In- Charge Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Sunita Mishra. Prof. Shilpi Verma, Director, IQAC, Dr. Ravi Shankar Verma, Swachhata Prabhari, Prof. B.C. Yadav, Prof. Shura Darapuri, Dr. Manoj Kumar Dadwal; and Dr. Anil Yadav, along with teachers, non-teaching staff and students of the University, were present on the occasion.


During the programme, In-charge Vice Chancellor Prof. Sunita Mishra, along with the faculty members, non-teaching staff and students present, paid floral tributes at the statues of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. The gathering remembered the contributions of both eminent personalities to nation-building and their ideals of truth, non-violence, simplicity, dedication to duty and cleanliness. Everyone also pledged to incorporate their ideals into their daily lives.
A cleanliness drive was also organised on the University campus, in which teachers, employees and students actively participated and contributed to cleaning the campus. Through the cleanliness drive, the message of building a clean and healthy campus and making cleanliness an integral part of daily life was conveyed. Dr. Ravi Shankar Verma, Swachhata In-charge, administered the cleanliness pledge to those present and called upon everyone to remain continuously aware and responsible towards cleanliness.


Further promoting the message of environmental conservation and a green campus, plantation was carried out under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ (A Tree in the Name of Mother) campaign. On the occasion, those present expressed their commitment towards environmental conservation, maintaining a green environment and protecting natural resources. As part of the programme, cleanliness materials were also distributed among the sanitation workers of the University. Through this initiative, their valuable contribution towards maintaining cleanliness was acknowledged and gratitude was expressed for their dedicated services.
The programme aimed to commemorate the thoughts and ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri while creating awareness among students and the University community about cleanliness, environmental conservation, social responsibility and nation-building.
