‘Internal Smart India Hackathon-2026’ Organised at BBAU: Students Showcase Innovation, Creative Thinking and Technical Skills

Lucknow: Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU), Lucknow, organised the ‘Internal Smart India Hackathon-2026’ on September 17 under the joint aegis of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Innovation Cell, Ministry of Education, Government of India and Smart India Hackathon 2026. The programme was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Raj Kumar Mittal. Also present on the dais were Dean of Academic Affairs Prof. S. Victor Babu, President of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), BBAU, Prof. Naveen Kumar Arora, Prof. Dhirendra Pandey and Programme Coordinator Prof. Pawan Kumar Chaurasia. The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and floral tribute to the portrait of Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. This was followed by the rendition of the University Kulgeet. Subsequently, bouquets were presented to the faculty members seated on the dais by the organising committee as a gesture of gratitude. On the occasion, students presented models based on various innovative ideas and provided detailed information about the functioning and utility of their projects.

Addressing the gathering, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raj Kumar Mittal said that the entire world is looking towards India with renewed and positive expectations. He emphasised that if India is to regain its position as Vishwaguru, the youth of the country will have to play a significant role in this endeavour. He said that young people possess new ideas, knowledge and the enthusiasm to create something innovative, which, if provided with the right direction, can be channelled towards nation-building. He stated that achieving the goal of Viksit Bharat@2047 requires continuous efforts in the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship. At the same time, digitalisation and the effective use of science and technology must be promoted, as countries with greater development in science and technology progress at a faster pace. The Vice-Chancellor called upon the youth to continuously enhance their knowledge in the fields of science and technology and to understand the problems confronting society and develop new ideas and innovations accordingly. He emphasised that innovation should not remain limited to developing new products or technologies; rather, its objective should also be to address and resolve real-world problems faced by society. He encouraged the youth not to be discouraged by failures but to learn from them. He said that those who have the courage to rise again after failure and continue making sustained efforts ultimately move towards success.

Prof. Naveen Kumar Arora, President, Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), BBAU, Prof. Dhirendra Pandey, and Programme Coordinator Dr. Pawan Kumar Chaurasia also addressed the students and encouraged them to move forward in the areas of innovation, creative thinking and problem-solving. They emphasised the need for students to identify challenges faced by society and the nation and develop practical and technological solutions to address them. They also encouraged the students to work with team spirit, transform their ideas into reality through innovation, and continuously learn and experiment with new approaches.

Students from various departments of the University participated in the programme in several teams. These included The Innovators, Coding Avengers, Insiders, Navamsa, Team Horizon, Divine Coders, Code Nova, Apex Alliance, Compile Crackers, CodeXception, CircuitX, CosmoCommons, Code Zombies, Glitz Freaks, VisionForge, Cognix, ByteForce, Cyvanta, Avinya, ArkShakti, Forensic X, Quantum Forge, Vyom Vision, Control at Elite, HackStreet, Viksitva, and Team Stellune, among others. The participating teams presented their innovative projects and technological solutions and demonstrated their innovation, creative thinking and technical skills through projects addressing various social and practical challenges.

The winning teams from BBAU will get an opportunity to participate in competitions organised at the district, state and national levels, where they will showcase their innovations and technological solutions and represent the यूनिवर्सिटी। Dr. Abhishek Verma, Dr. Mangaldeep Gupta, other faculty members, non-teaching staff, participants and students were present.
