Voices on Hindi, Patriotism and Social Concerns Echo at Self-Composed Poetry Recitation Competition at BBAU

Lucknow: Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University organized a Self-Composed Poetry Recitation Competition on September 15, 2026, under the Rajbhasha Hindi Utsav – 2026, organized by the Hindi Cell. Prof. Jaya Srivastava from the Department of Sociology and Dr. Preeti Rai from the Department of Hindi were present as judges for the competition. Dr. Namita Jaiswal and Dr. Ramesh Chandra Nailwal served as the programme coordinators. Faculty members, students, research scholars and non-teaching staff of the University participated enthusiastically in the competition.
During the competition, participants presented their thoughts through self-composed poems on various themes related to the significance of the Hindi language, its preservation and promotion, and its relevance in the present times. They also explored themes such as social concerns, women’s empowerment, the dowry system, social evils, patriotism and contemporary issues. Through impactful words, heartfelt expression and poetic presentation, the participants showcased their creativity and literary talent.
Prof. Jaya Srivastava analysed the self-composed poems presented by the participants and shared her observations on their themes, emotional expression and poetic presentation. Appreciating their creativity, she encouraged the participants to make greater use of Hindi and contribute towards its promotion and propagation. Prof. Srivastava stated that respecting Hindi and incorporating its use into everyday life can make a meaningful contribution to the development and promotion of the official language.
Dr. Preeti Rai appreciated the presentations by the participants and observed that the journey of creative expression is not an easy one, as it requires sensitivity, continuous reflection and the ability to express oneself effectively. She stated that poetry is not merely an arrangement of words but a powerful medium for communicating emotions and connecting people with one another. She also analysed the poems presented by the participants in terms of their themes, emotions, language and presentation, appreciated their creative expression and encouraged them to remain actively engaged in literary creation.
The poems reflected emotional depth, beautiful wordplay and a melodious sense of rhythm. The results will be determined by the panel of judges on the basis of the relevance of the theme, emotional expression, poetic rhythm and the impact on the audience. The winners of the competition will be felicitated during the concluding session of the Rajbhasha Hindi Utsav – 2026.
At the conclusion of the programme, Dr. Namita Jaiswal proposed the vote of thanks. Hindi Translation Officer Dr. Sandhya Dixit, along with other faculty members, non-teaching staff, research scholars and students, were present during the programme.
