IQAC Meeting Held at BBAU: Emphasis on Strengthening Quality-Based Education and Research
An Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) meeting was organized at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University on June 9, 2026. The meeting was chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Raj Kumar Mittal. Among those present were the Dean of Academic Affairs, Prof. S. Victor Babu,Registrar, Dr. Ashwini Kumar Singh, External IQAC Member, Mr. Atul Kumar Dubey and IQAC Director, Prof. Shilpi Verma. The meeting included detailed discussions on various proposals submitted for consideration and approval, the university’s functioning and records, global rankings and data, and major initiatives being undertaken to strengthen the academic and research ecosystem.
During the discussion, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raj Kumar Mittal emphasized the need to further strengthen Outcome-Based Education (OBE) as well as research and development activities within the university. He highlighted the importance of formulating policies that promote curriculum development, academic activities, social and spiritual values, and emotional intelligence. He stated that achieving these goals requires a clear vision and mission, along with the active participation of Heads of Departments, Deans, faculty members, students, and all stakeholders associated with the university, directly or indirectly. He stressed the need for a comprehensive revision of the curriculum to align it with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Sustainable Development Goals and Outcome-Based Education. He also advocated for the digitalization of academic processes, development of self-learning materials, promotion of online and distance education programmes, and recording of lectures by faculty members to ensure wider access to quality education. Prof. Mittal emphasized strengthening the relationship between the university and society, stating that efforts would be made to connect parents and the wider community through students, thereby promoting social harmony. Referring to research, he noted that research activities should address real societal challenges and possess both social and economic relevance. He encouraged faculty members to provide effective mentorship and guidance to students. The Vice-Chancellor further informed that the university has established the Navkalpana Section-8 Company to promote startup culture and entrepreneurship, motivating students towards self-employment and self-reliance. He added that stronger engagement with alumni would foster innovation while enhancing the university’s positive image and public trust.
IQAC Director Prof. Shilpi Verma presented an overview of the various activities and initiatives undertaken by the IQAC. She highlighted efforts to strengthen digital governance through the Samarth Portal and provided information on the effective functioning of its active modules. She also discussed several strategic meetings and quality enhancement initiatives organized under the aegis of IQAC. Prof. Verma shared details regarding the university’s achievements in various national and international rankings. Referring to the roadmap prepared by the university towards the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, she stated that the institution is continuously working to promote innovation, entrepreneurship, holistic education, and sustainable development, while making significant contributions to nation-building through education, research, and social responsibility.
Members present in the meeting also shared valuable suggestions and insights for further improving the quality, effectiveness, and impact of the university’s academic, research, and administrative functions.
