Initiative Towards Sustainable Development: Creative Events Organized at BBAU on the Eve of World Earth Day
Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University is organizing a two-day program on 21–22 April on the occasion of World Earth Day under the joint aegis of the Department of Geology, BBAU, and the Sustainable Development Goals Committee. In this sequence, various competitions were organized on 21 April on the eve of World Earth Day. These competitions were conducted under the patronage of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Raj Kumar Mittal, and under the guidance of the Head of the Department of Geology, Prof. Narendra Kumar, and the Chairman of the Sustainable Development Goals Committee, Prof. Naveen Kumar Arora.
The Program Convenor and Head of the Department of Geology, Prof. Narendra Kumar, stated during the discussion that these competitions are being organized on the occasion of World Earth Day with the primary objective of spreading the message of environmental conservation to every section of society and raising awareness among all. He added that such events help develop sensitivity towards nature among students and motivate them to contribute to environmental protection through small efforts in their daily lives. Moreover, this initiative inspires students from an early stage to become responsible citizens so that they can actively contribute to building a clean, safe, and balanced environment for future generations.

The Chairman of the Sustainable Development Goals Committee, Prof. Naveen Kumar Arora, informed that on the occasion of World Earth Day, six creative and informative competitions were successfully organized, in which more than 200 students actively participated. He said that such events not only foster a competitive spirit among students but also help them understand environmental issues, sustainable development, and the importance of conserving natural resources in depth. He further added that such efforts motivate students to become aware, responsible, and sensitive citizens, enabling them to play a significant role in maintaining environmental balance in the future.
On this occasion, a poster-making competition was organized on the theme “Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Role of Youth in a Sustainable Future.” In addition, a rangoli competition was held on the theme “A Vision for the Earth We Deserve,” a speech competition on “Our Earth: Hope vs Action,” and an eco-reel challenge competition on “Environment through Lenses: Challenges and Solutions.” Alongside these, a poetry recitation competition on the theme “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” and a quiz competition on “Sustainable Development Goals” were also conducted. Furthermore, a one-day national seminar will be organized on 22 April on the occasion of World Earth Day, during which winners of all competitions will be awarded.
